Finding a place to rent takes nerves of steel

In the past week I have:

Finally accepted that my living situation is fucked up.
Embraced the idea of moving.
Given 90 days notice to my landlady.
Called at least 7 different complexes.
Gotten my hopes dashed.
Learned a lesson, got back up.
Embraced that this will be heinously expensive and I’ll need to have a tighter budget.
Applied for another place.
Started being processed, second in line behind someone who looks like they might back out.

And if this doesn’t work, something else will.

Not too shabby for a full-time doctoral student with 2 tests last week and 2 grants due soon.

Just when things were starting to get unspeakably bad in my apartment, I went on CL and found the world’s most perfect basement studio. We emailed and they casually suggested I come by tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight they emailed to say that it was gone. I know I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up, and I literally have 90 days to find a new place to live, but that glimmer of hope was the only thing making living here bearable.
